07/07/2009 The Tomatina goes to Sanfermines
The well known and anticipated Tomatina of Buñol is visiting Pamplona this year. Besides the annual festivities in Valencia with locals and tourist. This year Pamplona is going to have a simulation of The Tomatina in honor of this famous festivity.
Kukuxumusu has made this posible because it has implemented “The Jay Day”. Which is a new iniciative that brings to The San Fermines famous festivities from other places in Spain and the world. This is created with the concept of a universal party, were famous celebrations of the world are integrated in the same place.
This coming July the 8th Kukuxumusu and a party commite, headed by Buñol's mayor Fernando Giraldos, will meet in the Rochapea to witness a simulation of legendary Tomatina. Which will be a preview of the oficial tomatina in Buñol on August 26th.
One of the guest in The Tomatina will be the kukuxumusu mascot Mr. Testis, a blue bull. The event will start at noon for all of those who want to come and enjoy themselves. This event is going to have all the elements of the original Tomatina including the whole traditional elements like the security messures and the clean up after the battle.
The main idea of “Jay Day” is to advertise the concept of parties. It helps to get to know other big celebrations around the world and promote San Fermin. This is initiative is planned to continue in upcomming years and there are already booked some well known parties coming to San Fermin in 2010.
The Tomatina was born sixty years ago. Each year more than 40,000 people throw to each other tomatoes in Buñols streets for an hour. Since, the beginnig when a shoot anaunces the beginnig of the celebration. Buñol turns into a real international place. Because thousands of people from around the globe come to this acclaim celebration. This year The Tomatina is on August the 26th.
